We are a community.
We are a Napa based community in the Big Ranch Road area that cares about the Infrastructure and Environment of Big Ranch. We are very concerned about a Large (66 acres) Medium Density (8-18 units/acre) project. We have created this page as a resource to the Napa Community and to better understand our concerns for the project.
Learn More about the Development
The city wants to create 900+ homes in this 66 acre area of land including an extension of Trower through to Big Ranch. The medium density will most likely be townhomes, condos, and other homes to meet the 8-18 units/acre medium density. This land was previously mapped for low density development but was increased during the city’s last General Plan.
Detailed information is in the link below:
Why do we want a site specific Environmental Impact Report?
Infrastructure
Big Ranch Road is currently not built for an additional 900 car dependent homes. The road regularly backs-up all the way to Garfield (and sometimes Rosewood). The majority of the road has no shoulder access for emergency vehicles. There is no east and west access from Trancas to El Centro. The pot holes are huge. This density can be unsafe for the community.
Agriculture
Much of this area is used for agriculture including a fruitful functioning vineyard of Cab/Cab Franc and a grow area for a nursery. We’d like to not destroy this usable fertile land.
Environment
This area is currently the home to many species of animals including hawks, foxes, rabbits, coyotes, deer, river otter, multiple bird species and more. We do not want to push these animals out of their natural habititat
